Chamtrul Rinpoche's UK Summer Retreat

About the retreat

We are delighted to be holding another 4 day retreat with Chamtrul Rinpoche here at Thorneyburn Old Rectory in the valley of Tarset, Northumberland from Thursday 29th June – Sunday 2nd July.

On-site check in is open from 2pm on Thursday 29th June.

Location

Tarset is a large parish in the upper North Tyne valley, situated in the Northumberland National Park.

Thorneyburn Old Rectory is nestled 2 miles from the village of Greenhaugh, in the heart of the Tarset valley . The Old Rectory is situated amongst traditional hay meadows and the wide open spaces of the Northumbrian fells. Chamtrul Rinpoche felt very at home staying here on his first visit in 2013 and said how much it reminded him of Tibet.  The old Rectory at Thorneyburn is 6 miles from Bellingham, 29 miles from Hexham and 45 miles from Newcastle.

Please visit www.tarset.co.uk for more information about the beautiful valley of Tarset.

Start and finish times

The retreat will begin Thursday 29th June at 6.30pm with Vajrasattva empowerment. Receiving the empowerment requires the following commitments: to take refuge in the 3 Jewels, to avoid killing and to complete 100,000 Vajrasattva mantra recitations in one’s life. Please allow enough time to arrive & settle before the teaching begins. Please note that all three days of the retreat must be attended.

The retreat will finish at 2pm on Sunday 2nd July.

Wheelchair access

Thorneyburn Old Rectory has wheelchair access.
